It is imperative to use the new wiring harness that is included with this relay. Use as much of the new harness as possible and cut off as much of the OE harness as possible to make the overall length the same as the original. The original relay on these vehicles is prone to fail often and the number one cause of failure is a worn out radiator fan. The radiator fan will draw more amps then required as the brushes inside the radiator fan motor wear from normal use. The amperage required on a worn fan can cause excessive current to be pulled through the relay thus melting the relay and/or wiring connector. An amperage draw test should be performed on the fan motor if it is not being replaced the same time as this relay. Installing a new relay with a worn out radiator fan will likely cause the relay to fail again very soon.
