This rubber air hose provides clean fresh air to the intake manifold. Over time and due to the heat from the engine, the rubber can dry out and crack. This crack will cause a vacuum leak which will allow too much air into the engine and this will disrupt the air/fuel mixture the vehicle is expecting. Hard to start, no start, and stalling are all very common symptoms of a leaking air intake hose.
